EastEnders' Lee Carter caught up in huge lie amid baby bombshell

EastEnders has seen Linda Carter going into detective mode amid her son Lee's return to the Square, as she set about investigating his split from girlfriend Jess.
In tonight's episode, Linda was less than impressed when Lee and Callum Highway returned from a drunken night out. Lee avoided disclosing the details of his breakup with Jess. He merely told his mum that Jess had walked out on him, though he'd told his mates a different story.

When Linda quizzed Callum about Lee's separation, she was surprised to learn that her son insisted he had "a lucky escape" and was annoying his single life.
Meanwhile, Lee's sister Nancy, who's heavily pregnant, was revealed to have agreed to be a surrogate for her brother and Jess before the latter ended the relationship.
Despite Lee remaining tight-lipped about his personal affairs, Linda sensed that something didn't add up. She almost went as far as to check her son's phone before Lee caught her in the act.
Later on, Lee's drinks with Johnny and Callum at The Prince Albert were cut short when he received a text from Linda, who claimed she'd spoken to Jess. Lee rushed back home to confront Linda, who admitted having lied to force the truth out of him.

Knowing he couldn't keep the façade any longer, Lee had to come clean to his mum. "I think I'm just scared, mum," Lee finally said, as Linda suggested they could call Jess together to patch things up.
When Lee said that Jess had changed her number, Linda urged her son to go and find her and even offered to go with him.
"We'll go tonight, alright? We'll stay at a cheap hotel," Linda said proactively. "We can start looking first thing in the morning."
