Killings: Plateau gov imposes curfew on three LGs

Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, has imposed a dusk-to-dawn curfew on three local government areas of the state following renewed killings and emerging security threats.

The affected local government areas are Barkin Ladi, Bokkos and Mangu.

The curfew, which took effect on Monday, September 21, 2026, restricts movement between 6pm and 6am until further notice.

The state Commissioner for Information and Communications, Joyce Ramnap, announced the directive in a statement issued on Monday.

The statement read, “The Plateau State Government has declared an immediate, dusk-to-dawn curfew across Barkin Ladi, Bokkos and Mangu Local Government Areas to maintain public order and curb emerging security threats in the region.”

According to the government, the measure was introduced to enable security agencies to restore normalcy, protect lives and prevent further breakdown of law and order in the affected communities.

“The ‘Time is Now’ Administration led by His Excellency, Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, Esq, has taken the measure to allow law enforcement agencies to stabilise the area, protect lives, and prevent any breakdown of law and order within local communities,” the statement said.

The government directed residents of the three LGAs to comply with the directive and plan their commercial, agricultural and personal activities around the restricted hours.

It also directed security operatives to strictly enforce the curfew and a ban on motorcycles across the affected areas.

The statement said, “So far, security operatives have been directed to strictly enforce the curfew and the ban on use of motorcycles with immediate effect throughout the affected jurisdiction.”

The government reassured law-abiding residents that security personnel would operate professionally while enforcing the directive.

The curfew will remain in force until further notice, pending improvement in the security situation in the three local government areas.
