Delta Goodrem "following medical advice to the letter" in hopes for Strictly return

Translate

Strictly Come Dancing star Delta Goodrem has already expressed her hope that she can return to the dancefloor in the near future, though it has also been stressed that she would be following medical advice this week.

The singer and former Neighbours star, who is partnered by Kai Widdrington, confirmed on Monday (12 October) that she wouldn't be able to participate in Saturday's (17 October) live show after injuring her rib.

Despite missing out on Icons Week, the Eurovision star hopes to return to the BBC series the following weekend, with The Sun reporting that she would be doing everything to make sure that she can compete again.

The publication states that Delta has been "following medical advice to the letter", and has been resting as well as taking walks and sleeping in an upright position.

The hope is that Delta will be allowed to return to rehearsing on Monday next week.

As per Strictly rules, each contestant is allowed to miss one week of competition if an injury is sustained, with them getting a bye to the next round. If they cannot continue past that point, then they are forced to withdraw.

Confirming her injury earlier this week, Delta, who topped the leaderboard on Saturday (10 October), said: "I'm absolutely gutted that a rib injury means I won't be able to dance on Strictly this week."

"I've been loving every second of this experience, so having to sit this one out is heartbreaking - especially after the high of Saturday night. I can not tell you how much I love being a part of this magical show," she continued.

"I'm going to focus on resting and recovering, and hopefully I'll be back on that dancefloor very soon. Thank you so much to everyone for all the love and support. It's so appreciated. I'll be cheering everyone on from the sidelines this week! Sending all my love, Delta xx."
