East Bengal will look to begin its group stage of the AFC Champions League Two (ACL 2) on a high as it takes on Al Hussein at the Amman International Stadium in Jordan on Wednesday.

It will be the first time that the Red-and-Gold Brigade will be playing in the group stages of ACL 2. It last played in the group stages of the second tier of Asian football 11 years ago, where it was called the AFC Cup.

Who is the referee in the East Bengal match tonight?

Shiekh Alaeddin from Lebanon is the referee in the ACL 2 match between East Bengal and Al Hussein. East Bengal has history with the referee, with him being the man-in-the-middle in the 2024-25 AFC Challenge League quarterfinal second leg.

Alaeddin had given two yellow cards to East Bengal players in that match and had sent off Lalchungnunga in the 33rd minute. Arkadag too was shown five yellow cards in that game.

East Bengal went on to lose that match 1-2, and was knocked with a 1-3 defeat in aggregate.

Alaeddin was also the referee when India played Hong Kong, China, in the AFC Asian Cup 2026 qualifier at the Kai Tak Stadium on June 10, 2025. A late winner by Hong Kong had seen India lose that match 1-0.
