PUCHONG: A fire in Bandar Bukit Puchong yesterday destroyed two lorries and damaged two factories.

Videos of the blaze, showing thick black smoke billowing over the premises as flames engulfed part of a factory, have since gone viral on social media.

"The operations commander reported that the fire involved two factories," the Selangor Fire and Rescue Department said in a statement issued at 7.10pm.

The premises belonged to Armlink Machinery Removal Sdn Bhd and Skymatics Holdings Sdn Bhd.

The Armlink Machinery Removal factory, measuring 80 by 100 sq ft, was estimated to be 80 per cent damaged, while the 240 by 200 sq ft Skymatics Holdings factory sustained about 30 per cent damage.

"The fire also involved two lorries, which were 100 per cent burnt," the department said.

A total of 24 firefighters were deployed, along with a compact fire rescue tender, two fire rescue tenders and three water tankers.

The department said volunteer fire brigades from Pandan Indah and Serdang were also on their way to the scene at the time.

One post on Threads, which has garnered more than 25,000 views, showed a firefighter working amid thick smoke beside a box lorry at the scene.

"If a lot of people saw smoke from Seri Kembangan or Puchong, I think this is what I saw in a live earlier. The location is in Bukit Puchong," wrote user @mhdalif_96.

Another video showed flames engulfing a factory behind a blue gate, with a white box lorry parked near the entrance.
