Weather: Yellow Level 2 warning issued for severe storms in TWO provinces

Here is what the weather has in store for KZN, the Free State, and the North West on Tuesday 29 September 2026.

Yellow Level 2 warning alerts North West and Free State for severe thunderstorms, heavy rain, damaging winds, hail and lightning.

KWAZULU-NATAL

Morning and evening fog patches over the interior, otherwise cloudy and cold to cool. Isolated showers and rain are expected but scattered along the coast and in the extreme north.

The wind along the coast will be light to moderate southerly to south-westerly, becoming easterly to south-easterly in the afternoon.

The UVB sunburn index will be low.

DURBAN

Durban will be cloudy with scattered showers and rain.

The wind will be light to moderate southerly to south-westerly, becoming easterly to south-easterly in the afternoon.

Temperatures will range from 16°C to 20°C.

FREE STATE

Cold in the east, otherwise cloudy and cool with isolated showers and thundershowers but scattered in the north.

BLOEMFONTEIN

Bloemfontein is going to be cloudy with isolated showers and thundershowers.

Temperatures will range from a minimum of 10°C to a maximum of 21°C.

NORTH WEST

North West is going to be cloudy, windy and cool with scattered showers and thundershowers

MAHIKENG

Mahikeng is going to be cloudy and windy with scattered showers and thundershowers..

Temperatures will range from a minimum of 16°C. to a maximum of 22°C.
