A Niger State High Court sitting in Minna has sentenced a 27-year-old man, Hussaini Suleiman, to seven years in jail for raping an eight-year-old girl.

According to a statement shared by the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons, the agency stated this on its official Facebook page on Friday.

The court, which was presided over by Justice Binta Bawa, convicted Suleiman of the crime, which occurred at his residence behind the Prison Quarters, Minna, Niger State.

The statement read, “The convict pleaded guilty and was sentenced to seven years imprisonment. The case was referred to the NAPTIP Niger State Command by the Niger State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps on 16th April 2026 following the report of the rape of the minor.

“The convict admitted to committing the offence and was arraigned before Court 8 of the Niger State High Court, Minna, on 10th September 2026.”

Similarly, in July, Aminu Bello, a 40-year-old man in Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State, was paraded by the NSCDC for the alleged rape of his 13-year-old daughter in the Badariya area.

A month earlier, in Mubi North, Adamawa State, the NSCDC arrested two suspects following the alleged rape of a 14-year-old girl.

The corps said the case had since been transferred to the state command headquarters for prosecution.
