Evanescence Announce 20th Anniversary Expanded Edition of The Open Door
Evanescence have announced a 20th anniversary expanded edition of their second studio album, The Open Door, out November 6th via Craft Recordings. Alongside the announcement comes the release of the newly remastered version of “Sweet Sacrifice.”
The reissue will come in a number of colored vinyl editions, including midnight nebula, metallic blue, sea glass, ghost blend, mercury blend, opaque ivory, and translucent cobalt. All editions are available to pre-order at Evanescence’s website.
Singer Amy Lee reflected on The Open Door, saying, “The Open Door was such an important time for me, pushing boundaries and feeding my desire to experiment and grow. I wanted to connect on a deeper level, and fought for a future for the music I loved. It was beyond worth it. The fact that it resonates with so many people 20 years later means so much to me.”
The album, which debuted at No. 1 upon its original release, was lauded as a critical leap at the time and has since found a resurgence due to TikTok discovering the track “Sweet Sacrifice.”
