3SC fans demand Aweroro’s return

Translate

Supporters of Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) have intensified calls for the return of former head coach Nurudeen Aweroro as the Ibadan side continues to struggle under Salisu Yusuf in the 2026/27 Nigeria Premier Football League season.

The demands grew louder after Matchday 7, with sections of the club’s fans openly expressing frustration over the team’s disappointing start. The Oluyole Warriors have collected only seven points from seven matches and currently sit in 17th position on the table, though they have one outstanding fixture.

In a short video that circulated among supporters, fans called for a complete change in the technical crew and the immediate reinstatement of Aweroro. Last season, after the same number of matches under the former coach, 3SC had accumulated 11 points and occupied fifth place.

Aweroro guided Shooting Stars to a third-place finish in the 2025/26 campaign, securing the club’s first continental ticket in 27 years and a place in the 2026/27 CAF Confederation Cup. He parted ways with the club by mutual consent in August after spending 280 days in charge.

Many fans believe the current results fall short of the standards set during Aweroro’s tenure and want the club hierarchy to act swiftly to reverse the slide. Yusuf now faces increasing pressure to turn the club’s fortunes around and restore confidence among the supporters as the season progresses.
