KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 26 — A 16-year-old Form Four student detained in connection with the murder investigation into the death of a Form Two student at a Kuala Pilah school has been remanded for six days, until October 1.

Negeri Sembilan police chief Datuk Alzafny Ahmad said the remand application was made at the Seremban Magistrates’ Court today.

“Police applied for the teenager to be remanded this morning and the court granted a six-day remand beginning today, until October 1,” he said to Harian Metro.

Police had earlier said the student was detained to assist investigations after the death was classified as murder under Section 302 of the Penal Code.

Preliminary investigations found that the incident took place at the school hostel at about 8pm on Friday.

The victim was taken to Kuala Pilah Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police are continuing to examine the evidence to establish the circumstances surrounding the death and any possible motive.

Alzafny had earlier urged the public not to speculate or circulate unverified information, saying this could interfere with the investigation and affect the privacy of the families involved.

The Education Ministry has ordered an immediate audit of the school and said it would cooperate fully with police.
