Leadtek Research Inc (麗臺科技), a distributor of graphics cards, artificial intelligence (AI) workstations and AI servers, expects revenue this year to reach a record high and double from last year’s NT$4.44 billion (US$136.7 million), thanks to sufficient inventory and strong order momentum, a company source told the Taipei Times yesterday.

The company’s confidence comes as it achieved record-high revenue of NT$3.32 billion in the third quarter, up 70 percent year-on-year, the source said.

The company has secured sufficient supplies of high-end graphics cards and computing products from Nvidia Corp through the end of this year, the source said.

The company placed additional orders this month in anticipation of continued robust demand through the first quarter of next year, the source added.

Net profit in the first half surged nearly fivefold year-on-year to NT$262 million, or earnings per share of NT$2.79. The second-half profit is expected to exceed that on strong demand, the source said.

For procurement and inventory planning purposes, the company has required customers to prepay part of the purchase price and bundle high-demand graphics products with less popular products, the source said.

Besides main markets in Taiwan and China, the company expects strong demand for AI data center-related applications in Japan this quarter, and is accelerating its expansion in Southeast Asia, the source added.
