Alleged trespasser stopped outside Kamala Harris’ Malibu home

An alleged trespasser was stopped by police on former Vice President Kamala Harris’ property in Malibu, California, Friday, officials said.

The individual entered the property, where Harris and her husband, Doug Emhoff, live Friday night, but was stopped by security personnel before they reached the house itself, Eduardo Negrón, a spokesperson for Harris, said Saturday.

“Vice President Harris and Second Gentleman Emhoff were not present. They are grateful to the security and law enforcement personnel who responded swiftly,” Negrón added.

The Malibu Lost Hills Sheriff’s deputies responded to a suspicious person call at the residence at 10:30 p.m. Friday, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said in a statement.

“When deputies arrived they made contact with the private security detail on the property,” the department said. “The individual who was outside of the property upon our arrival was warned and advised by deputies to leave the premises and left voluntarily without incident.”

The department added that a trespassing report was taken, but no arrests were made. The Malibu Lost Hills deputies will increase patrols in the area as a precaution, the department said.

The incident was first reported by TMZ.

The incident at Harris’ home comes after President Donald Trump revoked her U.S. Secret Service protection last year.

A senior White House official who confirmed the news last August noted that vice presidents typically only get six months of protection after leaving office.

That timeline is accurate, as Congress passed a bill in 2008 that cleared Secret Service details for former vice presidents, their spouses and their children under age 16 for up to six months, beginning after the vice president left office, though then-President Joe Biden signed a memorandum in January 2025 extending Harris’ protection to 18 months.
