Asian Games 2026: Manush-Diya reach semifinals, confirm mixed doubles medal in table tennis

India’s Manush Shah and Diya Chitale wrote their names into the history books by becoming only the second Indian mixed doubles pair to confirm a medal in table tennis at the Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, on Friday.
World No. 8 Manush and Diya stunned World No. 4 Doo Hoi Kem and Wong Chun Ting of Hong Kong, China 3-1 (11-6, 13-15, 11-9, 11-5) to reach the semifinals, thus guaranteeing themselves at least a bronze.
In the past, Indian paddlers have won three bronze medals - one in men’s team (2018), one in mixed doubles (Sharath Kamal and Manika Batra in 2018) and one in women’s doubles (Ayhika and Sutirtha Mukherjee in 2023) - at the Asian Games.
Manush and Diya will face Chinese World No. 2 Wang Chuqin and Sun Yingsha, the two-time defending champions, in the semifinals later in the day.
