Andrew Kibe Sparks Debate With Controversial Remarks on Kinuthia and Women’s Restrooms
Andrew Kibe has weighed in on the debate surrounding transgender people and access to women’s restrooms, questioning women who support Kenyan social media personality Kinuthia and his gender expression.
Speaking during a podcast discussion, the former radio presenter argued that women who openly celebrate Kinuthia should also consider the implications of their position when questions arise about access to gender-segregated public facilities.
Kibe suggested that some women enthusiastically support people whose gender expression challenges traditional expectations but become uncomfortable when the conversation shifts to the use of public restrooms.
“Kinuthia, you decided you is a woman, cross over. Ladies, don’t complain. Take it as a shadow of the killer,” Kibe said, using provocative language to express his views.
Kibe questions women’s support for Kinuthia
Kibe claimed that women were among those who enthusiastically celebrated Kinuthia at social gatherings, arguing that their support should extend to confronting the questions surrounding restroom access.
“They are the ones who supported this guy. They are the ones who’ve been saying, ‘Oh my God! Oh!’ You should see them at the bashes,” he said.
The commentator also made explicit and derogatory remarks about Kinuthia’s anatomy while arguing that the debate over gender identity and public facilities should address practical concerns rather than what he characterised as pretence.
His comments challenged women who support Kinuthia to reconcile that support with their views on maintaining separate facilities for men and women.
‘Play that stupid game inside the toilets’
Kibe maintained that women should accept the implications of the positions they take instead of distancing themselves from the debate when it becomes contentious.
“Please play that stupid game inside the toilets. Sisi we don’t care, lakini wewe usituletee hii side ingine,” he said.
He also used the phrase “sisi ni njwangest” to describe the position he associates with his side of the debate before directing Kinuthia to return to the other side.
