2027: APM names retired NNPC chief as Adamawa deputy governorship candidate

The Allied Peoples Movement (APM) has presented Safriel Glah, a retired general manager at NNPC Limited, as its deputy governorship candidate for Adamawa State.

She will run alongside the party’s governorship flagbearer, Abdulrahman Haske.

The official unveiling took place during a media briefing in Abuja, where party leaders and stakeholders presented what they characterised as a “formidable, balanced, and results-oriented ticket” designed to accelerate inclusive economic development in the North-eastern state.

Speaking at the briefing, the governorship candidate, Mr Haske, described the choice of Ms Glah as a strategic decision rooted in competence, integrity, and decades of exemplary public service.

He stressed that the ticket brings together two crucial pillars needed for governance: private sector innovation and public sector leadership.

“Today marks an important milestone in our collective vision for a more prosperous and forward-looking Adamawa State. In Engr. Safriel Glah, we have found a partner whose distinguished career embodies excellence, discipline, professionalism, and selfless service”, Mr Haske stated.

Mr Haske highlighted that while his personal background is anchored in business enterprise, investment, and youth empowerment, Mr Glah brings over 34 years of public administration, environmental governance, and institutional management to the campaign.

“Our partnership represents a convergence of complementary strengths,” Mr Haske added. “While I have spent years building businesses and promoting enterprise, Engr. Glah has built an outstanding record in public administration and policy implementation. Together, we offer Adamawa a competent, balanced team dedicated to transforming the fortunes of our state.”

About the deputy governorship candidate

Mrs Glah retired from NNPC Limited as General Manager and Head of Environment, Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE).

A Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (FNSE), she is widely recognised for her leadership in engineering, environmental sustainability, and community development.

Her career spanned over 34 years in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector (NNPC Limited). She is a fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (FNSE), with a focus on engineering management, environmental policy, institutional discipline, and sustainable governance.

In her acceptance speech, Ms Glah thanked the APM leadership and the citizens of Adamawa State for their trust in her, promising to complement Mr Haske’s vision with dedication and administrative rigour.

“I stand before you today humbled and profoundly grateful. As Deputy Governorship Candidate, I will support my principal, complement his leadership, and work with our team to promote a vision of inclusive development, opportunity, accountability, and sustainable progress. To the people of Adamawa State, I am ready to listen, ready to work, and ready to serve.”

Speaking in separate interviews following the event, the APM National Chairman, Yusuf Dantalle, and the Adamawa State Chairman, Badejo Bello, declared the Haske-Glah ticket a winning formula.

Mr Dantalle noted that the APM intentionally crafted a ticket that balances private enterprise with public governance experience, creating a compelling platform for economic growth, job creation, and institutional reform.

Echoing his views, the Adamawa State Chairman, Mr Bello, stated that Ms Glah’s emergence has provided a major boost to the party’s electoral prospects ahead of 2027.

He expressed confidence that the ticket’s blend of business enterprise and administrative integrity will resonate deeply across all constituencies in Adamawa State.
