San Beda-Alabang suspends F2F classes over ‘unverified safety concern’

MANILA, Philippines — The San Beda College Alabang suspended its face-to-face classes on Wednesday, Aug. 26, due to an “unverified safety concern” it received on Tuesday evening.

Based on the official advisory, the Office of the Rector announced that classes at all levels—from basic education to tertiary and graduate education—at San Beda College Alabang will shift to synchronous online or remote learning.

“This proactive measure is taken out of an abundance of caution following an unverified safety concern reported late this evening, ensuring the total safety and security of our school community,” Rector Fr. Gerardo Ma. De Villa, OSB, said in the advisory released around 11 p.m. on Tuesday.

“Security and local authorities will conduct routine campus sweeps,” he also said.

De Villa said the campus is temporarily closed to all students and unauthorized personnel, adding that on-campus activities requiring student presence are also currently suspended.

As for the campus setup for Thursday, the school will issue a follow-up advisory by 3 p.m. this Wednesday.

“We ask everyone to remain calm, follow the official advisory, and rely only on information released through the official San Beda College Alabang channels,” said the rector. /mr
