Micah Parsons Reveals What The Kansas City Chiefs Are Missing After Their First Defeat

The Kansas City Chiefs had spent the opening weeks of the season making their offense look difficult to stop. Then Seattle exposed a problem that Micah Parsons believes Kansas City cannot ignore. The Chiefs struggled to move the ball in a 20-3 defeat to the Seahawks on October 25, and their receivers failed to give Patrick Mahomes enough help. Parsons pointed to a missing piece in the passing game, arguing that having speed on the roster means little if a receiver cannot turn it into game-changing plays.

Micah Parsons explains why the  Kansas City Chiefs need a star receiver

Speaking on The Edge with Micah Parsons, the Green Bay Packers star said Kansas City needed a receiver who could stretch the field and force defenses to respect the deep pass.

“They need someone to be able to take the top off… We have to stop this madness. Just cuz you buy Tyreek Hill speed don't mean you buying Tyreek,” Parsons said.

His comparison with Tyreek Hill was not about straight-line speed. Parsons explained that Hill's ability to stop and change direction made him difficult to defend, qualities he believes separate elite receivers from the rest.

“To me, what really separates receivers is not how fast you can run forward besides the 9 route, the go route. How many times are you actually just running straight? Your ability to change direction and come in and out of breaks is gonna dictate how good you are,” Parsons added.

The Chiefs had recorded 16 receptions of at least 20 yards this season, compared with 58 during Hill's final season with the team. Travis Kelce accounted for three of Kansas City's current total, the most among its pass-catchers.

Kansas City Chiefs look for answers before Broncos clash

Seattle showed how Kansas City's offense could stall when its running game and passing options failed to deliver together. Kenneth Walker III managed just 36 rushing yards on 14 carries, while Mahomes finished with 165 passing yards, no touchdowns and an interception. The Chiefs never reached the red zone.

Injuries to Rashee Rice and Tyquan Thornton left Mahomes short of two important receiving options. Xavier Worthy caught only three passes for 11 yards, struggling to separate from Seattle's coverage.

There was some encouraging news before Kansas City's next game. Rice returned to limited practice on Wednesday after missing two games with a hamstring injury, while right tackle Jaylon Moore participated fully after sitting out with a concussion.

The Chiefs will visit the Denver Broncos on Sunday, looking to respond to their first defeat. With Denver having won its last three games, Kansas City will need more from its passing attack if it wants to protect its position atop the AFC West.
