Senator Panfilo Lacson on Monday posted an image on X (formerly Twitter) of Senator Vicente "Tito" Sotto III sitting in a dimly lit room furnished only with a monobloc chair and table and a gas lamp.

"Poor Senate President Pro Tempore Tito Sotto," Lacson said in the caption.

"Naka monobloc table and chair at lampara na lang. Mistulang “barebones” ang bago niyang opisina. Binaklas kasi lahat ng dating occupant - from the floor tiles, walls and cabinets to the toilet fixtures and wall outlets - inubos," he added.

(He is using only a monobloc table and chair and a lamp. His new office is “bare bones” because the previous occupant has dismantled and taken out everything - from the floor tiles, walls and cabinets to the toilet fixtures and wall outlets.)

Lacson's post with the image, which appears to be AI-generated, came after media reports that the office—which Sotto was moving into as the Senate President Pro Tempore—had been stripped of furnishings and fixtures, including floor tiles, light bulbs and the toilet.

The office was previously used by Senator Jinggoy Estrada, the former President Pro Tempore who is currently detained on plunder charges.

A report by Super Radyo DZBB's Nimfa Ravelo showed the bare, vacated office stripped of furniture, sockets, and tiles.

In a post, GMA reporter Mark Salazar said Sotto’s staff were surprised at the condition of Estrada’s office, describing it as completely unusable.
