Government absorbs over GH¢2bn to cushion fuel consumers – NPA CEO

The Chief Executive Officer of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), Godwin Kudzo Tameklo, says the government has so far absorbed more than GH¢2 billion to ease the financial burden on Ghanaians.
He said the intervention forms part of efforts to improve the living conditions of citizens and provide relief amid prevailing economic pressures.
“The Government of Ghana, through the National Petroleum Authority, has so far absorbed a little over GH¢2 billion to make life better for our people,” he stated.
Mr Tameklo said the government remained committed to implementing measures aimed at cushioning the public against rising costs.
He disclosed this at the 2026 NPA Consumer Week Celebration in Kasoa. Mr Tameklo said President John Dramani Mahama directed the intervention to ease the pressure of rising fuel prices on consumers.
