One boy remains fighting for his life after five youngsters were stabbed at Halloween party 'when address was shared on social media and 70 uninvited revellers turned up': Two teens are arrested 'over attempted murder'

One boy is fighting for his life after he and four others were stabbed at a Halloween party when 70 uninvited revellers turned up after the details were shared on Snapchat.

Two teens have now been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after the five youths were seriously hurt in the fracas.

Two of the five victims, all aged 16 or 17, remain in hospital, with one of them in a life-threatening condition following the attack on Saturday night.

The sixth form pupils were knifed by gate crashers who scaled a fence to get into the £800,000, four-bedroom property in a quiet tree-lined street.

A 17-year-old girl who lives in the house with her parents and sister invited her closest friends – but 100 people turned up after another Halloween bash nearby was shut down earlier in the evening.

Her parents were at the address but were unable to stop the large numbers of youngsters arriving.

All five boys who were stabbed had been invited to attend the supervised party at the home on Park Road, Chandler’s Ford, Eastleigh, where they were found injured at around 10.30pm on Saturday, Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary said.

At some point after 10pm a group of teenagers climbed a wooden fence and gained access to the party despite not appearing to know anyone there.

Five teenage boys suffered serious injuries following a stabbing at a Halloween party

A fight broke out and the five boys were rushed to hospital.

A 17-year-old and 16-year-old, both from Southampton, have now been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and remain in police custody.

One local resident said: 'A friend of mine's son went to the party.

'He was there with a couple of friends and they were in the garden.

'At some point, a group of teenagers scaled the fence and jumped into the back yard. 'They were uninvited and didn't seem to know anyone. A fight broke out between some of the boys who had been at the party and the group who had gatecrashed.

'It got nasty quickly as the group who had jumped over the fence pulled out knives. They later fled the house.

'One of the boys was stabbed in the shoulder, two had serious slash wounds to their stomach and torso while another had a nasty stab wound to his arm.

'There were around 100 youngsters at the party when there should have only been 30 or 40.

'There'd been another party in Romsey earlier in the evening which had been shut down. Some of those we think had gone over to this party afterwards.'

The stab victims are believed to be friends with the 17-year-old hosting the party as all had attended Thornden School in Chandler's Ford.

They had completed their GCSE exams last year and had moved to various colleges including Barton Peveril College in Eastleigh.

A friend of the girl said: 'The gatecrashers who scaled the fence appeared to act all friendly to begin with but that changed.

A sixth form college has said it believes two of the five teenagers injured in a stabbing at a Halloween party are among its students

'The boys who were stabbed are not the confrontational type at all. I don't know what sparked the trouble.

'The girl whose party it was has had a few parties at her house before. So many people turned up to this one, though.

'I guess you've got teenagers messaging their friends, they're all on Snapchat and WhatsApp.'

A lady who lives close to the house where the party took place described the moment the stabbing happened.

She said: 'I could hear a lot of noise and so I looked out from an upstairs window and I could see a lot of teenagers further up the road outside a neighbour's house.

'There must have been more than 80 of them at the party and some had spilled out onto the street.

'They were laughing and chatting but were generally well behaved, there was no anti-social behaviour going on.

'But it changed suddenly when I could hear screams from a few of the girls. That was when the fight broke out and the boys were stabbed.

'There was a lot of screaming and an eerie silence immediately afterwards. I heard a male voice say to another 'it's a knife attack.'

'The police were on the scene very quickly, as were the ambulances. The air ambulance landed in the recreation ground nearby.

'I saw one of the boys brought out of the house on a stretcher. He looked in a terrible way.

'The medics looked as though they were giving him gas and air and a blood transfusion. They must have worked on him on the pavement outside the house for about half an hour to 40-minutes before he was rushed away in an ambulance.

'Two other boys were brought out on stretchers. One of them had bandages wrapped around his torso. They turned him over and he had another nasty gash on his back.

'The other boy was helped to sit up by the paramedics and he talked to them for a minute or two, pointing to something but then his head slumped forward as though he was losing consciousness again.

'It was a horrific scene. There were police everywhere, including armed officers and forensics.

'We are all shocked and just hoping that the boys pull through.'

Posting under an anonymous account on social media, a mother whose son was at the party gave a horrifying account of what happened.

She said: 'My son was at the party, four of his friends were stabbed by a bunch of boys who were not invited to the party.

'These boys jumped the fence and stabbed people. My son and his friends helped their friends who had been stabbed trying to stop the bleeding with their coats and jumper. They are all shocked and traumatised. So sad.'

Locals said that groups of youths had been coming into the area from Romsey and Southampton and causing trouble.

They said that younger children had visited homes earlier in the evening whilst trick or treating but that older teenagers had started to gather later on Saturday from Chandler's Ford train station.

Hampshire Police are now speaking with witnesses, identifying CCTV and other footage available and making enquiries at neighbouring houses and in a number of other nearby streets.

Senior investigating officer Detective Chief Inspector Elizabeth Pirie said: 'Whilst the two arrests are a significant development in our investigation, which has moved at pace since the incident was first reported to us, we still urge our communities to contact us with any information, no matter how small it may seem.

'I understand the response the local community may have to hearing about this incident this morning, and I do not underestimate the impact our scenes will be having on those living in the area.

'These scenes are vitally important for our enquiries and we are grateful to the understanding of our communities whilst we work to establish the facts.

'If you were at the party and have not spoken with officers yet, or you have any CCTV, mobile phone, dash cam or doorbell camera footage covering Park Road and the surrounding area, then please get in touch.'

Liz Jarvis, MP for Eastleigh, wrote on X: 'My thoughts are with the victims and their families and all those affected by the incident in Chandler's Ford last night, and my thanks go to our local police and emergency services for their prompt response.

'It's important not to speculate or share unverified information.'

The force said it was interested in speaking to anyone who attended the party or has footage, including doorbell camera footage, covering Park Road and the surrounding area. Anyone with information should contact police on 101 or via their website, quoting reference 44260534624, or Crimestoppers by calling 0800 555 111 or using its website.
