Ricki Lake says Rosie O'Donnell was 'judgy' about her facelift then got one herself after weight loss

Ricki Lake admitted to feeling a little judged by her friend Rosie O'Donnell following her facelift in 2024.

During an episode of "The Weekend View" she was co-hosting, the 58-year-old actress shared that she chose to get a facelift after losing "40 pounds naturally without the use of pharmaceuticals," saying "we just went south."

"I was not trying to reverse the clock and look like I'm 20," she explained. "I have my natural gray hair. I really own my age and I love the age I'm at."

While she was happy with how her procedure turned out, Lake explained that not everyone in her circle was completely supportive of her decision to go under the knife.

She said that O'Donnell, who she considers "a really good friend," was a bit "judgy" upon hearing Lake had decided to go through with the cosmetic surgery.

"She would admit it that she was judgy of myself and a few of my friends that went to this doctor and had these amazing results," Lake said. "She's like, 'Why do you need it?' And then, sure enough, she lost a bunch of weight on Mounjaro, and she went and had it done."

O'Donnell revealed she went through with the same procedure in a Substack post shared in May. She also shared a lengthy Instagram post about why she chose to do it, writing she had assigned herself "as head of all women who would never - ever" get a facelift.

She admitted to thinking it was "a betrayal" of feminism, aging and "of our team of women worldwide." Her opinion on the matter changed, she wrote, when she lost 50 pounds.

"It wasn’t wrinkles—it was gravity," she wrote. "I’d look in the mirror and think, this isn’t aging, this is … melting with intention."

While on "The View," Lake went into detail about what exactly she had done, sharing she did not get her eyes done, opting for "a deep-plane lower face and neck lift and a CO2 laser."

She explained that it all came together very quickly. After having her consultation appointment in mid-June, she booked a surgery date for mid-July and "never looked back."

"I had just lost 40 pounds, and I had this hanging," she said, pointing to the area under her chin. "And it wasn't just like that I didn't like what I saw or wanted to look younger. I have gray hair. It's not about that. It's like, I had an appendage hanging that wasn't going to grow back, like come back up."
