EastEnders airs heartbreaking scenes for Kat Moon and family after Zoe Slater’s death in early BBC iPlayer release

Heartbreaking scenes have aired in the aftermath of Zoe Slater’s death in EastEnders.
The BBC One soap aired the aftermath of Zoe’s tragic death, which occurred in last Thursday’s episode following an accidental head wound.
At the conclusion of last week, Kat woke up in the middle of the night unsettled and checked on Zoe in her bedroom and was horrified to find her dead.
Monday’s episode began with Kat getting out of bed after sunrise and proceeding to enter Zoe’s room again, where we can see that she covered her daughter’s corpse in blankets and cushions in an attempt to warm her up and wake her.
Of course, tragically, this was in vain, as Kat pleaded with her eldest child to wake up.
Meanwhile, Jean Slater (Gillian Wright), Mo Harris (Laila Morse), and Lily Slater (Lillia Turner) packed up their belongings as they left the house Suki Panesar-Unwin (Balvinder Sopal) evicted them from, and made their way to the Queen Vic.
As the family gathered, also present in the Vic to help were Alfie Moon (Shane Richie) and Zoe’s children Jasmine Fisher (Indeyarna Donaldson-Holness) and Josh Goodwin (Joshua Vaughan), along with the rest of Kat and Alfie’s children.
When Alfie went to go and wake up Zoe, a despondent Kat tried to stop him, but eventually he made his way into Zoe’s room and made the grim discovery of her death.
A cry from Alfie alerted the rest of the family, and he ushered them into the kitchen and broke the news to the adults and Zoe's younger brother, Tommy Moon (Sonny Kendall).
Jasmine and Josh then went to see Zoe, and the former began wailing at having lost the birth mother she had so longed to find.
The family eventually congregated downstairs, and the news was broken to the rest of the family.
The episode continued to examine the grief of the various family members.
Zoe’s great-grandmother, Mo as emotionally broken when Jean found her in the toilets. Mo lamented Kat losing her daughter, a pain Mo knew too well, and also felt it was unfair that she herself should live to an old age and Zoe was taken young.
Jean pushed Mo to pull herself together and lead the family, as they all needed her. The pair shared their love for each other and embraced.

Meanwhile, Josh attempted to calm a devastated Jasmine in the barrel store as she felt guilt for having tormented Zoe and hoped she knew that she had loved her.
However, the twins once again argued about their previous experience being cared for by Sandra Goodwin (Dawn Steele) as Jasmine hit out at Josh’s lack of grief for Zoe.
Upstairs in the Vic, having hated the idea of Zoe’s body being taken away, Kat locked herself in the room with her daughter and broke down further, blaming herself for not making Zoe get her head wound checked and also for having chosen to search for a troubled Tommy rather than join Zoe on the venture for Charlie’s cab as planned.
Alfie made Kat realise that none of this was her fault and persuaded her to leave the room.

Tommy, meanwhile, had heard his mum’s guilty statements and ran away in tears to cry alone.
Jean and Mo later joined Alfie upstairs, with Kat finding comfort in her grandmother’s arms.
In Zoe’s room, Jean stood over Zoe’s body and lamented their previous falling out before delivering a monologue on the fiery but loving streak through the Slater family genes and hoped Zoe would look down on them with his other passed loved ones.
As the episode concluded, the police came, and Zoe’s body was taken away.
Various members of the community gathered outside, concerned as to what was happening, when the Slater-Moon family emerged as Zoe was taken away and loaded into a van.
The soap’s emotive Julia’s Theme played as the van closed its doors and drove away.
A grieving Kat then ran after the van, screaming for her baby that she hadn’t been able to say goodbye to before collapsing and being held by Alfie and Tommy as the camera panned away above the Square.
An increasingly hard-hitting episode, with parallels to the exemplar episode where Billie Jackson (Devon Anderson) was discovered dead, and his mother Carol Jackson (Lindsey Coulson) was informed.
Now, the week will see Walford dealing with the loss of Zoe, but what will this mean for Max Branning (Jake Wood), Zoe’s former lover, who was the last to see her alive?
