EUROMATCH–NPFL 2026/27: Enyimba Board Rallies Players Ahead Crucial First Home Match Against Inter Lagos

The hierarchy of Enyimba of Aba has talked up the People’s Elephant players ahead of Sunday’s 2026/27 EuroMatch/NPFL Matchday 4 fixture against Inter Lagos, Completesports.com reports.

The clash is billed for the Enyimba Stadium, Aba, with the tie potentially serving as the nine-time champions’ first home game of the season, following the postponement of their actual first home fixture — a Matchday 3 clash against traditional rivals Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC), Ibadan — following the latter’s involvement in CAF inter-club competition last weekend.

Enyimba are without a win so far in the campaign, having lost their first two away games to Niger Tornadoes (2-1) and Doma United (2-0).

But on Wednesday, the leadership of the two-time CAF Champions League winners, led by its Chairman, Nwankwo Kanu, a FIFA Ambassador, visited the players at their training ground, where they talked up the team ahead of Sunday’s impending showdown against Inter Lagos.

It is the first time the board would meet the team this season, and their presence alongside the Chairman, FIFA Amb. Nwankwo Kanu, was encouraging to the players.

Vice Chairman of the club, Captain Eric Iheanacho Asogwa, spoke on behalf of the board and pledged total support for the team, the Chairman and the welfare of the club.

“Our Chairman is a man of peace. We are here to support him and to support the club as well,” Captain Asogwa began.

“Many people are looking up to you, including younger ones. Enyimba should win the league this season. We are here to promise you our support.

“I’m telling you that the Chairman, the Board and all the administrative crew are behind you. We have decided to support this team.

“We are working as a team under the leadership of the Chairman, Nwankwo Kanu,” Asogwa emphasised.

The People’s Elephant seek their first three points of the season on home ground when they face Inter Lagos on Sunday at the Enyimba Stadium, Aba.
