Melaka polls: 'Uncle Wong', 'Dak Nor' show up for BN's Duyong candidate's nomination

MELAKA: A lively atmosphere greeted incumbent Datuk Mohd Noor Helmy Abdul Halem as he arrived at about 8.35am today at the Duyong state constituency nomination centre for the 16th Melaka state election.
Supporters of Mohd Noor Helmy, affectionately known as 'YB Duyong', began gathering around Dewan Kompleks Japerun Duyong as early as 8am, with 'Uncle Wong' and 'Dak Nor', two familiar faces in the constituency, joining the crowd.
UMNO secretary-general Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki was also present at the nomination centre to accompany Mohd Noor Helmy.
Mohd Noor Helmy, 45, a former deputy state executive councillor for science, technology, innovation and digital communications, will face Pakatan Harapan (PH) candidate Poo Long Suan, who is also a committee member of the Melaka DAP Complaints Bureau.
Poo arrived at the nomination centre at 8.25am, accompanied by supporters waving flags and carrying banners.
In the 15th Melaka state election, Mohd Noor Helmy scored an upset victory over then-incumbent Damian Yeo Shen Li, winning by a slim majority of 200 votes.
The Election Commission (EC) has set Nov 14 as polling day for the Melaka state election, with early voting scheduled for Nov 10.
