Jodie Comer and Hugh Jackman's "magnificent" period thriller is now available to watch at home
The Death of Robin Hood, the "magnificent" period thriller starring Jodie Comer and Hugh Jackman, is now available to watch at home. Released in UK cinemas on 2 September, the film stars Jackman as Robin Hood, following him as he reckons with his life of crime after being gravely injured in battle.
After his injury, Robin comes under the care of Sister Brigid, played by Comer, who runs a priory on a remote island.
The logline reads: "Grappling with his past after a life of crime and murder, a battle-worn loner lives as a recluse, masking his true identity from those heirs seeking revenge.

"This skilled archer and survivalist is called upon for one final quest: to recover the captive family of his one-time surrogate son."
The thriller, written and directed by Michael Sarnoski, is now available to rent or buy on Prime Video, Apple TV, and other platforms.
The Death of Robin Hood was hailed by critics, with Bill Bria writing on X: "The Death of Robin Hood is one of the best films of 2026. Michael Sarnoski has made another tender meditation on mortality, vengeance, & redemption.
"Hugh Jackman plays Robin like King Lear, & it's brilliant. Pat Scola's lens captures the beauty amidst the bleakness. Magnificent."
On Rotten Tomatoes, the film has a 69% approval rating based on 189 reviews, with critics praising Comer and Jackman's performances.

The Observer wrote: "Playing Brigid, Jodie Comer is remarkable; her essential goodness seems to glow and there’s an almost pearlescent quality to her purity. This is not an enjoyable feature, but Comer’s magnetic presence is reason enough to watch it."
"Jackman is astounding throughout, with not a trace of the naff ironic kitsch he typically brings to more commercial fare," penned The Times.
"Sarnoski and Jackman take a name associated with heroic antics and remove that element, asking the viewer to engage with smaller, more human stakes. The gambit is daring, but it’s never uninteresting," said The Atlantic.
The Death of Robin Hood is now available to rent or buy on Prime Video, Apple TV, and other platforms.
