Kaizer Chiefs danger everywhere: These 10 players have all scored for Orlando Pirates this season

Translate

The highly anticipated showdown between Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs kicks off on Saturday at 15:30 at the FNB Stadium.

Amakhosi face an unforgiving challenge. Orlando Pirates boast the second-most prolific attack behind Mamelodi Sundowns in the Betway Premiership.

Coach Abdeslam Ouaddou’s Buccaneers simply have attacking riches. They have had 10 different players finding the back of the net in the league.

Fernando Da Cruz’s team cannot afford to focus their defensive attention on just one or two individuals.

ORLANDO PIRATES’ GOAL THREAT COMES FROM EVERYWHERE

What makes Pirates particularly dangerous is their spread of goals throughout the team. Their attacking contribution is not limited to their recognised forwards, with defenders and midfielders also joining the goalscoring party.

Here are the 10 players who have scored for the Buccaneers in the Betway Premiership this season:

  • Tshepang Moremi (Winger): 4 goals
  • Boitumelo Radiopane (Striker): 3 goals
  • Lebone Seema (Central defender): 2 goals
  • Oswin Appollis (Winger): 2 goals
  • Ghampani Lungu (Winger): 2 goals
  • Yanela Mbuthuma (Striker): 2 goals
  • Nkosinathi Sibisi (Central defender): 1 goal
  • Simphiwe Masilela (Attacking midfielder): 1 goal
  • Kabelo Kgositsile (Winger): 1 goal
  • Daniel Msendami (Winger): 1 goal*

*Daniel Msendami left Pirates in January on loan to Marumo Gallants.

Key note: These figures account only for league matches. Players such as Thapelo Mokobodi, who has scored twice in cup competitions, are therefore not included in the list.

WHO DO KAIZER CHIEFS KEEP TABS ON?

For Kaizer Chiefs, the challenge is vast. Keeping the biggest danger Moremi quiet will not necessarily solve the problem.

Orlando Pirates have the likes of Appollis, Lungu and Radiopane who have each scored at least two goals in the league this term. The goals come from wide attackers, midfielders, strikers and defenders.

Meanwhile, SABC have confirmed they will broadcast the game live.
