Chris is a Senior News Writer for Collider. He can be found in an IMAX screen, with his eyes watering and his ears bleeding for his own pleasure. He joined the news team in 2022 and accidentally fell upwards into a senior position despite his best efforts.

For reasons unknown, he enjoys analyzing box office receipts, giant sharks, and has become known as the go-to man for all things Bosch, Mission: Impossible and Christopher Nolan in Collider's news division. Recently, he found himself yeehawing along to the Dutton saga on the Yellowstone Ranch.

He is proficient in sarcasm, wit, Photoshop and working unfeasibly long hours. Amongst his passions sit the likes of the history of the Walt Disney Company, the construction of theme parks, steam trains and binge-watching Gilmore Girls with a coffee that is just hot enough to scald him.

His obsession with the Apple TV+ series Silo is the subject of mockery within the Senior News channel, where his feelings about Taylor Sheridan's work are enough to make his fellow writers roll their eyes.

This article covers a developing story. Continue to check back with us as we will be adding more information as it becomes available.

There are very few crime dramas on network television that have managed to stand out quite as successfully as Will Trent, with the ABC series developing a devoted following thanks to its unusual leading character, complicated relationships, and increasingly unpredictable investigations. Based on the bestselling novels by Karin Slaughter, the show has spent four seasons exploring the darker side of Atlanta's criminal underworld, while giving audiences plenty of reasons to become invested in the detectives tasked with keeping the city safe. And after a particularly dramatic fourth season, fans have been left wondering just how much longer they'll have to wait for the next chapter. Fortunately, ABC has finally provided an answer.

ABC has officially confirmed that Will Trent will return for Season 5 on Tuesday, January 5, 2027, at 8 p.m. ET, ending an eight-month wait following the fourth season's conclusion in May. The announcement comes as part of the network's newly unveiled midseason schedule, with the crime drama returning to its familiar Tuesday evening home ahead of the Season 3 premiere of High Potential at 9 p.m. The evening will conclude with the series premiere of ABC's new documentary program Surviving a Scandal at 10 p.m.
