Selangor Malay Reserve Land up 1,084.55 hectares since 2018, says Amirudin

SHAH ALAM, Sept 22 — The total area of Malay Reserve Land in Selangor has increased by 1,084.55 hectares (2,680 acres) since 2018, said Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari.

In a statement today, Amirudin said the overall area under the state government’s administration had increased from 162,161.98 hectares (400,711 acres) to 163,246.54 hectares (403,391 acres).

“Since 2018, the total area of Malay Reserve Land in Selangor under this administration has increased by 1,084.55 hectares (2,680 acres) compared to the previous government,” he said, in response to questions raised regarding the status of Malay Reserve Land in Sabak Bernam.

Meanwhile, Amirudin said that 22.41 hectares (55.401 acres) of land in Tanjong Karang, Sabak Bernam, which was degazetted through a gazette published on Sept 3, 2026, had been allocated for the Sabak Bernam Development Area (SABDA).

He added that to balance local development with the interests of Malay Reserve Land, a separate 22.41-hectare plot of land in Hulu Selangor was concurrently undergoing the gazetting process as Malay Reserve Land.

Amirudin said SABDA was an initiative by the Selangor state government to develop the northern corridor of Selangor to enhance food security and tap into the agro-tourism potential along the state’s west coast.

“At the same time, it will also increase employment opportunities for locals,” he said.

Amirudin said the effort was spearheaded by the state government subsidiary, Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated) or MBI, and involved local communities such as fishermen, entrepreneurs and academics. — Bernama
