Saban Community Clinic to Honor Peter Friedlander and David Nevins at 50th Gala
Saban Community Clinic is lining up the high-profile pieces for its milestone 50th anniversary gala.
Set to take place at the Beverly Hills Hotel on Oct. 26, the event will fete Amazon MGM Studios head of global television Peter Friedlander and former Showtime chairman and CEO David Nevins. The milestone gala — chaired by the likes of Netflix’s Bela Bajaria, philanthropist and board member Ellen Hoberman, veteran TV producer and Littlefield Company president Warren Littlefield, and WME co-chairman Richard Weitz — will feature a performance by Aloe Blacc. Alex Edelman has been tapped to host the event, which will also include an appearance from presenter Connie Britton.
Friedlander, who will be honored with a Friends Leadership Award, has been at Amazon MGM Studios for one year overseeing the company’s original TV portfolio in the U.S., global tentpoles and MGM Television and MGM Alternative projects, among other duties. He joined after a long stint at Netflix. Nevins meanwhile will take home the Lenny Somberg Volunteer Award. He long led Showtime, and ultimately departed a post as chairman and CEO of Paramount Premium Group and chief creative officer of Paramount+ Scripted Series in 2022. (See his exit interview here.)
Though the dinner gala is toasting a milestone anniversary of 50 years, the clinic itself celebrates 60 years of service in Los Angeles. Founded in 1967 as the Los Angeles Free Clinic, the organization was run with an entirely volunteer staff to provide healthcare free of charge. More than 110,000 patients were served in the first three years. Today, Saban Community Clinic serves individuals and families throughout Los Angeles “with a vision to achieve health equity and transform lives.”
