Mother charged with murder after Blue Mountains stabbings

A mother has been charged with the murder of a five-year-old boy and the attempted murder of two other children in the NSW Blue Mountains.
The 42-year-old woman and her three children were found suffering from stab wounds in a parked vehicle on Waratah Road at Valley Heights, near Springwood, about 12:45pm on Sunday.
Police said members of the public performed first aid on the children, all aged under five, while dialling Triple Zero (000).
The five-year-old boy was found deceased in the vehicle.
Paramedics treated two other children, aged one and three, as well as the woman before they were conveyed to hospital.
The two children, who were taken to Westmead Children's Hospital, remain in a critical but stable condition.

The woman, who police allege had self-inflicted stab wounds, was charged in a beside hearing at Westmead Hospital on Tuesday.
The charges include domestic violence-related murder and two counts of domestic violence-related wounding or grievous bodily harm with intent to murder.
The mother was refused bail and is due to appear at Penrith Local Court on Friday November 20.
