Speaking during a special address on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, President Ruto revealed that the landmark fixture will be funded by the private sector, bringing international stars like Harry Kane to Nairobi.
“Ladies and gentlemen, come January 2027, we will open this stadium with a historic match between FC Bayern and Ajax,” President Ruto stated.

Bundesliga clubs will begin their mid-season break on December 20, 2026, before resuming competitive fixtures on January 8, 2027.
