Ranger 4515 officer ambushed and shot dead during patrol in Narathiwat

NARATHIWAT — 27 September 2026, A paramilitary ranger was shot and seriously wounded while conducting a patrol in Rangae district before later dying from his injuries, authorities said.

At around 18:30, an operational team from Ranger Company 4515, under the 45th Ranger Regiment Task Force, came under fire from an unidentified firearm while conducting a patrol and reconnaissance mission in Ban Kujinglupa, Village 4, Chaloem subdistrict, Rangae district, Narathiwat province.

The shooting left Volunteer Ranger Sukran Lateh, 32, a rifleman with Ranger Company 4515, seriously wounded. He later died from his injuries.

Authorities have begun procedures related to the death and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Relevant agencies are continuing to closely monitor the situation in the area and coordinate the necessary official procedures. Authorities are also arranging appropriate rights, benefits and welfare support for the family of the deceased ranger.
