It's hard to believe how far George R.R. Martin's beloved A Song of Ice and Fire universe has come since the original HBO Game of Thrones series finale aired. Aside from the hugely successful House of the Dragon spin-off, the IP has been adapted on stage with the new Mad King play at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre, which recently completed its sold-out Stratford-upon-Avon run and is now set to transfer to London in 2027.

The franchise continues to expand with A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Season 2, taking fans on a new adventure with Dunk and Egg, while Warner Bros. is preparing to take us to theaters for the first time with the Aegon's Conquest film. It's currently in development as a feature film centered on Aegon I Targaryen's conquest of Westeros, potentially giving fans their biggest look yet at the earliest days of Targaryen rule.

However, it looks like fans have even more to look forward to, as Game of Thrones: The Dragon's Divide is officially on the way later this month (via X).

The Dragon's Divide is an exciting upcoming new campaign for Game of Thrones: Dragonfire that was just announced alongside the reveal of the new The Red Queen dragon, both of which will be arriving to the free mobile 4x strategy game on September 24. This will be the third official campaign available in Dragonfire, following Heirs of the Dragon and Shadow of the Greens, which serve as the game's introductory campaigns.

Campaigns in Dragonfire unfold as part of roughly eight-week Reigns, which are essentially seasonal arcs that give players new storylines, objectives, and opportunities to compete for control of Westeros. Each campaign is divided into time-limited stages with their own objectives, rewards, story developments, and sometimes gameplay modifiers. Players can also pursue both personal and faction-wide goals, encouraging them to work alongside allies while developing their own strongholds.

Importantly, campaign events can change according to player decisions and battles, meaning certain campaigns could potentially play out differently if revisited or if you decide to do a new playthrough. When a Reign ends, some territorial and stronghold progress resets, while permanent progression such as collected dragons, eggs, star ranks, and other items carry forward.

That seasonal structure is part of Dragonfire's larger 4X gameplay, which revolves around expanding territory, building strongholds, forming alliances, and battling other factions across Westeros. The game is heavily tied to HBO's House of the Dragon, featuring familiar characters and dragons including Syrax, Caraxes, Seasmoke, and Meleys, alongside numerous entirely original dragons designed specifically for the game.

It comes highly recommended on both Google Play and the App Store, and now is the perfect time for Game of Thrones fans to fire it up and see what's on offer ahead of The Dragon's Divide campaign launch next week.
