Michael Dell and wife Susan Dell

Michael Dell’s wife Susan Dell has made an ‘appeal’ to parents and grandparents to claim their child’s money in Trump accounts. The couple attended a press conference alongside President Donald Trump at the Oval Office celebrating the automatic enrollment of millions of American children in the ‘Trump Accounts’.

“We believe in you, and we want you to dream big because we know you can make your dreams come true,” Susan Dell said adding “So parents and grandparents, please claim your child's account. These accounts are ready. They're waiting for you, and they have money in them.”The move comes months after Michael and Susan Dell committed $6.25 billion to fund “Trump Accounts” for children in the US. Announcing the donation last year, Michael Dell said: "We've seen what happens when a child gets even a small financial headstart - their world expands".

What are Trump Accounts

Trump Accounts are new, tax-advantaged investment accounts for children in the US, created under the 2025 federal tax law known as the Working Families Tax Cuts. Legally, they are a type of traditional IRA created under new Section 530A of the tax code. Eligible US-citizen children born between January 1, 2025 and December 31, 2028 can receive a one-time $1,000 Treasury contribution, if the required election is made.

IRSThe basic idea is to give children an investment asset early in life, allowing money to potentially grow through compound returns over many years. The Trump administration describes the programme as a way to give children a financial head start and encourage wider participation in investing.

Michael and Susan Dell donated $250 each to first 25 million Trump accounts

On July 4, as America marked its 250th birthday, the Dell Technologies founder and his wife Susan Dell gave $250 each to the first 25 million qualifying American children who sign up for a 'Trump Accounts’.

Dell made the announcement on X, formerly Twitter, framing it as a "public-private partnership" that hands the next generation "a real stake in our economy." The couple had already pledged more than $6 billion to the programme back in December, so Saturday's post added a number to a commitment already made.“Today, on America's 250th birthday, Susan and I are celebrating by giving $250 each to the first 25 million qualifying American children who sign up for their @InvestAmerica24 @TrumpAccounts. This makes every child a shareholder in the greatest prosperity-creating engine the world has ever known—American capitalism. Through this public-private partnership, we're giving the next generation a real stake in our economy and a path to the American Dream: education, a first home, starting a business, and building lasting wealth.

It unites us all in hope and optimism for every child's future. Happy 250th Birthday, America!,” the post then said.
