Hillary Clinton, Kara Swisher to Launch Political Podcast ‘High Stakes’

Hillary Rodham Clinton and Kara Swisher are launching their own political-themed podcast in time for the U.S. midterm elections.

The former U.S. secretary of state and the veteran digital journalist unveiled plans for High Stakes, in partnership with Vox Media, to kick off Oct. 14 as the third episode of On With Kara Swisher, a podcast for New York magazine. The duo will discuss hot button political issues like the cost of living, healthcare and technology in the lead-up to the Nov. 3 midterm elections, with opposing sides represented among those debating.

Clinton said of her partnership: “I don’t think the stakes for our country and the world have ever been higher than they are in November. People are hungry for real conversation about what’s happening in our democracy and what it will mean for their families, and I can’t think of a better partner for that than Kara. There will be some discussion, some debate, and hopefully a lot of laughter.”

Future collaborations between Clinton, Swisher and Vox Media are anticipated. That follows Swisher recently announcing she will leave CNN after Paramount Skydance completed a deal to acquire Warner Bros. Discovery and her contract comes up for renewal later this year.

“I’m immensely proud to bring Secretary Clinton — a hero to millions who has had a profound impact making the world a better place — to Vox Media as she embarks on this next chapter of her media career,” Jim Bankoff, Vox Media co-founder and CEO, said in a statement. “She and Kara are forces of nature, and have an undeniable chemistry as hosts. I can’t wait to see where we take this partnership next.”

Clinton was a guest host of Pivot, Swisher’s podcast with Scott Galloway, in August 2026. “Think of this series as Pivot, but with an actual expert as my co-host. She’s a global icon, she doesn’t hold back, and she’s going to bring the audience an invaluable perspective,” Swisher said in her own statement.

Clinton, besides her long political career, is also a a book author, with titles like It Takes A Village (1996), and the memoirs Living History (2003), Hard Choices (2014), and What Happened (2017). She also hosted the You and Me Both with Hillary Clinton podcast for iHeart Radio in 2023.

Swisher, besides being a podcasting pioneer, also wrote her memoir Burn Book: A Tech Love and has been named to The Hollywood Reporter’s list of Podcast Power Players. Her with CNN included the six-part original series Kara Swisher Wants to Live Forever and she does live touring and events.

Vox Media as a podcast network also hosts Criminal with Phoebe Judge, Today Explained with Sean Ramswaram and Noel King, Where Should We Begin? with Esther Perel, Bird’s Eye View with Sue Bird, Stay Tuned with Preet, and Waveform with Marques Brownlee
