JYT & Gap Are Bringing Boy-Band Mania Back to the Mall With a New Fashion Collection

The boy-band mall tour is officially making a comeback, and Gap is bringing a new generation of pop stars along for the ride.

The retailer has teamed up with rising American boy band Just Your Type (JYT) for a nationwide mall tour and limited-edition fashion collection, giving fans a chance to catch live performances, shop exclusive merchandise and get a little closer to their favorite members. Better yet, the Gap x JYT collection dropped Oct. 30, meaning fans can already shop the pieces online.

For those unfamiliar with JYT, the five-member group consists of Recker Eans, Toby Green, Caden Adamonis, Bryan Chan and Tyler George. Developed by Grammy-nominated songwriter and producer Freddy Wexler and signed to Wexler Records/Republic Records, the dance-focused group has been making waves online. According to Gap, JYT generated more than 450 million views in a 90-day period and amassed over 2 million followers across social platforms.

And if the group’s growing fan base is any indication, the next wave of boy-band mania might already be underway.

The collaboration takes inspiration from the glory days of ’90s mall culture, when shopping centers doubled as destinations for discovering new music and meeting your favorite artists. After drawing crowds in Miami, Atlanta and Houston, JYT is continuing its tour with stops in Dallas on Nov. 8, Los Angeles on Nov. 15 and New Jersey on Nov. 20 and 21.

Fans attending can expect live performances, giveaways, exclusive merchandise and opportunities to personalize select Gap pieces. Encore Rewards members will also receive VIP access.

As for the collection, each JYT member put his personal spin on Gap’s heavyweight hoodies and matching sweatpants. Designs range from Recker’s cheetah-lined zip-up with a hidden drumstick pocket to Caden’s tattoo-inspired sleeve detailing and Bryan’s New York Knicks-inspired colorway.

The partnership also marks the debut of Gap Inc.’s Fashiontainment platform, with a behind-the-scenes docuseries chronicling JYT’s rise in the works.
