Joe Budden on 'Law & Order' NBC

Rapper-turned-podcaster Joe Budden made a guest appearance on a recent episode of Law & Order titled “Property,” in which he plays, you guessed it, a rapper.

Big Switty is a big-time rapper who finds himself in the middle of a murder investigation when detectives find a voicemail he sent threatening an art broker.

“Hey, Carson. You wanna make this thing ugly? I’ll break your face ugly,” Budden’s character can be heard saying. When cops pay him a visit, he tells them he just wanted his money back from a deal gone wrong after he spent $300,000 on an Egyptian mask he says is a fake and gives them some information pertaining to Andrew Carson’s girlfriend.

Don’t fret, though, he also had an airtight alibi. After one of the detectives asked him were he was at 9:30 p.m. the night before, he said he was at dinner with his manager and his lawyer. We don’t want to spoil anything for you, so you’ll have to tune in to see Big Switty’s fate.

While this appearance may seem random, we gotta remember that Budden and Law & Order creator Dick Wolf have a true-crime podcast. Crime in America premiered its first episode on Aug. 11 and is four episodes into its first season so far. According to Variety, each episode will highlight cases as they start to make national headlines and will keep weekly tabs on them as they unfold. He’ll also be joined by journalists provided by Advance Local & Headline Studio for further insight into said cases.
