Marvel has a new Avengers special rocking on Disney+'s charts, and it became an instant streaming sensation at the perfect time. 2026 is the year the Avengers will finally come back with their first movie in the MCU's Multiverse Saga. Initially, that project was meant to be Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, which would have featured MCU heroes going up against the multiversal Council of Kangs that was set up in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. However, after Kang the Conqueror actor Jonathan Majors was fired by Marvel, the studio pivoted to Doctor Doom, and so Avengers: Doomsday was born.

All eyes are on Avengers: Doomsday's cast, which brings back Iron Man star Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom, Chris Evans as Steve Rogers, several MCU players, and multiverse characters like Fox's original X-Men cast. That said, while the MCU rages on in theaters with Tom Holland's Spider-Man: Brand New Day and the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday, multiple Marvel releases continue to come to the small screen. Ahead of the MCU's next TV show, VisionQuest, the animated Spidey and the Avengers: Halloween Team-Up! was released on Disney+, and it has quickly become a top performer for Marvel on the streaming service.

Spidey & The Avengers' Halloween Team-Up Is Quickly Taking Over Disney+

At the time of writing, Spidey and the Avengers: Halloween Team-Up! is the 2nd most-watched movie on Disney+ in the United States. The project is actually a TV special despite its position on the movie chart, having a short 28-minute runtime. This just makes its feat on the streaming service all the more impressive. After all, Marvel's Spidey and the Avengers: Halloween Team-Up! has left behind movies like the first four animated entries in the classic Toy Story franchise, Pedro Pascal's new Star Wars movie The Mandalorian and Grogu, Dakota Fanning's Coraline, Christina Ricci's Casper, and more. The Avengers special is a hit.

Right now, the only project above Spidey and the Avengers: Halloween Team-Up! on Disney+'s nationwide movie chart is Toy Story 5, the $1.15 billion movie that was released in theaters earlier this year. Marvel's Spidey and the Avengers: Halloween Team-Up! arrived on the streamer as one of the four Marvel releases on Disney+ in September, alongside Spider-Man: Far From Home, Spider-Man: No Way Home, and Kraven the Hunter. The new Avengers special was released on Disney+ on September 25, and on the next day, it was already #3 on Disney+'s Top 10 Movies chart in the US, an instant hit.

The New Special's Success Comes At The Perfect Time

Spidey and the Avengers: Halloween Team-Up!'s streaming success on Disney+ comes at the perfect time for Marvel for three reasons. First, it is already a hit right before Halloween season, a period that should only boost the Avengers special's performance on streaming. Then, there is the fact that it makes the Avengers popular with young viewers a couple of months before Avengers: Doomsday releases in theaters on December 18. Finally, Spidey and the Avengers: Halloween Team-Up! is one of the specials setting up a new Marvel series, Avengers: Mightiest Friends, coming in 2027. Spidey and the Avengers: Halloween Team-Up! is a major win for Marvel.
