When is Robert Eggers's Werwulf released in UK cinemas?

Never one to repeat himself, Robert Eggers is following up the critical and commercial hit Nosferatu with a werewolf film set in 14th century England. However, as any Eggers fan will tell you, this isn't you're average werewolf picture.
Werwulf, styled using the archaic spelling, uses Middle English as well as some unique stylistic choices to bring to life its vicious story of man and beast.
Like Eggers's previous film, Werewulf is a gothic horror movie that focuses on faithfully recreating the period within which it is set, something the director has become synonymous with across his career.
If Nosferatu included a distinctly Eastern-European flavour to bring its tale of the titular vampire to life, Werwulf is doing the same for England and Wales as it uses the countries dramatic and ancient landscapes to tell this monstrous tale.
Werwulf will be releasing in the UK shortly. Read on to find out all you need to know about how and where to watch it.

Werwulf sees Eggers re-team with multiple actors he's worked with previously, including Nosferatu actors Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Lily-Rose Depp who play the film's leads. Willem Dafoe and Ralph Ineson also star, having both appeared in multiple Eggers projects with Dafoe having roles in all of the director's films since The Lighthouse.

You can see the full list of confirmed cast below:

- Lily-Rose Depp as Woman
- Willem Dafoe as Old Hunter
- Ralph Ineson as One-Eyed Hunter
- Jack Morris as Young Hunter
- Ned Dennehy as Friar

Werwulf plot – What is the film about?
Very little is known about the plot of Eggers's latest film beyond the fact that it centres on a town being terrorised by a mysterious beast in 14th century England, threatening to unravel the life of a man and his family.
As you can see from the cast list above, we don't even really know who anyone is playing beyond generic labels for the characters. Given that Werwulf isn't an adaptation of a specific text, that leaves its plot a delicious mystery to those of us waiting to see what wonderful horrors Eggers is readying for the world.
The fact that the film sees the director once again teaming up with Icelandic writer Sjón suggests that the film might blend historical accuracy with magical realism in a similar way to The Northman, the pairs previous collaboration.
