"We would like to keep going forever": Rivals boss issues huge update about future of series on screen

Rivals executive producer Dominic Treadwell-Collins had shared his huge plans for the series ahead of the second instalment of season two dropping next month. Treadwell-Collins revealed that the production company behind Rivals has now secured the rights to late author Jilly Cooper's entire Rutshire Chronicles series.
Speaking at an event celebrating Cooper's work at Cheltenham Literature Festival, Treadwell-Collins said (via Radio Times): "We have got the rights to all four of the Rutshire Chronicles and it's interesting that if you look on the poster Disney have changed it to 'based upon Jilly Cooper's Rutshire Chronicles' and not upon the Rivals."

Treadwell-Collins added that the team has been collaborating with Cooper's family, following the author's sudden passing last October.
"We have her blessing, we have got the family who we keep talking to, and what we are doing is taking bits of the books and repurposing them, playing around with them, but she's there as this Jilly treasure trove," he said.
"So, we would like to keep going forever."
Rivals has already been confirmed for a third season while we eagerly await the second half of season two, after the first part ended on a massive cliffhanger, with the death of Tony Baddingham's wife Monica.

The official synopsis for the next part of season two reads: "Tony Baddingham and Declan O'Hara's battle for the Cotswolds crown reaches fever pitch, while Rupert Campbell-Black is forced to confront his own personal demons.
"Against a backdrop of hedonistic parties, Bonfire Night chaos, the Hampshire Hunt Ball and a turbulent Christmas, affairs unravel, alliances fracture and rivalries intensify. Caught in the middle of the frenzied franchise war, Taggie O'Hara must find the courage to follow her heart, while those around her face the consequences of ambition, power and secrets that can no longer remain hidden.
"But as series two draws to a close, who will get their happy ending?"
Rivals season 2 will return in November, with episodes 7–12, on Disney+.
