Loke, other top guns arrive for CEC meeting on Najib

DAP secretary-general Loke Siew Fook and other party bigwigs have arrived at the DAP headquarters here for an emergency central executive committee (CEC) meeting following Najib Razak’s conditional pardon.
Loke arrived at about 2.54pm while others seen entering the party headquarters included DAP chairman Gobind Singh Deo, organising secretary Khoo Poay Tiong, treasurer Ngeh Koo Ham and Wanita chief Teo Nie Ching.
Also seen arriving for the CEC meeting were DAP deputy secretary-general and federal territories minister Hannah Yeoh, who sits on the Federal Territories Pardons Board (FTPB).
Others in attendance include DAP deputy chairman Nga Kor Ming, vice-chairmen Syahredzan Johan and J Arul Kumar, international secretary Kasthuri Patto and CEC member Lim Hui Ying.
The DAP CEC started meeting at 3pm to decide the party’s position and follow-up action after Najib’s conditional pardon.
Yesterday, the Prime Minister’s Department announced that following a FTPB meeting, the king decided to allow Najib to serve the remainder of a six-year jail sentence at his home provided he pays his RM50 million fine in his SRC International case.
Under the conditional pardon, the former prime minister will serve the remainder of his sentence under house arrest until Aug 23, 2028, subject to the payment of the fine.
Najib, 73, has been serving a six-year sentence at Kajang prison after the board halved his original 12-year sentence in February 2024. The original RM210 million fine was also reduced to RM50 million.
