CHARLIZE THERON AND TWO DAUGHTERS TURN HEADS AT EVENT
On Saturday, Charlize made an appearance at the Sixth Annual Academy Museum Gala in LA, where she received the Icon Award in celebration of her cinematic career.
While the blonde Benoni-born star walked the red carpet alone, she shared a sweet moment with her daughters, Jackson, 14, and August, 12.
Charlize and her model-like kids shared a warm embrace in a video captured by People magazine.
Both girls had their hair styled in long braids and wore black minidresses and strappy heels.
While they aren’t biologically related, it’s clear the girls inherited their style and grace from their South African mom.
WHY SHE CHOSE TO ADOPT
Over the years, Charlize Theron has spoken openly and honestly about her unconventional path to parenthood.
In an interview with Elle Magazine in 2018, the South African-born star revealed that she was intrigued with adoption from a young age.
She shared: “South Africa, orphanages were everywhere, and I wanted a brother or sister. I was always aware that there are so many children in this world who don’t have families. Adoption is a very personal thing – I know people whom I love dearly who don’t feel that they could raise another child as their own. I respect that.
“But for me -and I can’t be the only person out there- I never saw a difference in raising an adopted child versus my own biological child. I don’t feel like I’m missing out on something.
“This was always my first choice, even when I was in a relationship. I was very honest with my partners that I was open to having my own biological kids but that adoption had to be a part of my life. I felt that strongly about it”.
