Former Barcelona and Spain player Pedro Rodriguez on Wednesday announced his retirement from football, bringing the curtains down on a trophy-laden career.

“I feel it is time. The time to take a step forward and begin a new chapter in my ‌life,” Pedro said in a statement on social media.

“I leave proud of having lived my dream and of all ‌the people who stood by my side to make it a reality. Thank you, football, for making me so happy.”

The forward was a key member of the Barcelona side that clinched the treble — La Liga, Champions League, and Cope del Rey — under Pep Guardiola in 2011. He was also part of the Barcelona side that repeated the feat in 2015 under Luis Enrique.

He was also part of the Spain side that secured its maiden FIFA World Cup title in 2010. He added to his trophy cabinet two years later when he won the Euro.

The 39-year-old also found success in England after he joined Chelsea in 2015, going on to win the Premier League title under Antonio Conte. His last five seasons were spent in Lazio, which he left after the conclusion of the 2025/26 season.

Pedro made 794 appearances ‌at club level, scoring 197 goals, while he netted 17 times in 65 appearances for Spain.
