Police in Rivers State have begun an investigation into the killing of a father of four, Kamadioye Krama, by gunmen in the Emulation community, Abua/Odual Local Government Area.

The spokesperson for the State Police Command, Blessing Agabe, confirmed the incident, stating that an investigation was ongoing to apprehend the culprits and bring them to book.

Sunday PUNCH gathered that Kamadioye was shot dead at about 8pm on Friday, though the circumstances leading to the shooting could not be immediately ascertained.

The deceased’s elder brother, Monday Krama, told newsmen on Saturday that Krama went to the venue of a planned coronation ceremony when miscreants stormed the place and shot him.

Monday said, “I was in Port Harcourt when we heard about the killing of my brother. From what I heard, he went to the farm. When he returned in the evening, he went to have his haircut. After barbing his hair, he went to the town where youths in the community were arranging canopies ahead of the coronation of a stakeholder in the community, Mr ThankGod.

“Suddenly, the gunmen came out from nowhere and started shooting. They shot him dead. That is what happened.”

He dismissed earlier information circulating that the gathering was political.

“It was not a political gathering. My brother was just there standing and watching as the youths were arranging canopies for the coronation of Mr ThankGod on Saturday,” he stated.

Monday, on behalf of the family, demanded justice for their son and called on the police to investigate the killing and bring the culprits to justice.

“All we are asking is justice. Let the police investigate the incident and ensure those behind my brother’s death are prosecuted,” he added.

Monday further disclosed that the deceased was married and left four children behind.

He disclosed that an official complaint had been lodged at the Abua/Odual Police Division.

Commenting on the incident, Agabe, an Assistant Superintendent of Police, said, “Yes, I can confirm the incident. Investigation is ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the death of the victim and determine what led to the unfortunate incident.

“The Command remains committed to uncovering the facts and ensuring that appropriate action is taken based on the outcome of the investigation.”
