‘The Night Agent’s Curtis Lum To Topline Ensemble Horror-Comedy ‘New Diamond Restaurant’

EXCLUSIVE: Curtis Lum, a Canadian actor with credits like The Night Agent and The Audacity, is in production in British Columbia on New Diamond Restaurant, an indie genre-bender from writer-director Milton Ng, who makes his feature debut.
Blending zombie horror, action and family comedy, New Diamond Restaurant follows Aaron Chan (Lum) as he returns home to tell his father he no longer wants to take over the family restaurant. But before he can, a zombie outbreak traps his fractured family inside.
Forced to fight for survival together, the family must confront threats outside the restaurant, old resentments and cultural expectations. With its setting in the fictional prairie town of Saint-Legal, the film takes inspiration from Ng’s small-town Alberta upbringing.
Other members of the Chan clan are played by Vincent Cheng, Phoebe Miu, filmmaker Ng and Alannah Ong. The film also stars Aleks Paunovic, Morgan Taylor Campbell and Lochlyn Munro.
In addition to writing, directing and starring, Ng is producing New Diamond Restaurant alongside Mike Morrison. Lum is exec producing the film, with Jessica Ally, Jared Cheer, Natasha Jung and Paolo Valdes serving as co-producers through Dear Hero Studios / New Diamond Film Inc. The production is supported by Telefilm Canada and Creative BC, with Canadian distribution through Photon Films.
This year, Lum returned for the third season of Netflix’s The Night Agent before appearing in Jonathan Glatzer’s dark Silicon Valley comedy The Audacity for AMC/AMC+. Past credits include Apple TV’s Invasion, The Agency: Central Intelligence for Paramount+ and the Freeform drama Siren. Next year, the actor will be seen on ABC’s The Rookie: North and Season 3 of Prime Video’s Cross, also appearing alongside Cynthia Erivo, Teo Yoo and more in the Lionsgate action thriller Karoshi. He is repped by Artium Talent and Trisko Talent in Canada.
