LSDPC vital to Lagos’ growth, residents’ needs – HoS

Lagos Head of Service, Olabode Agoro

The Head of Service, Lagos State Public Service, Mr Bode Agoro, has stated that the Lagos State Development and Property Corporation has an important role to play as Lagos continues to grow and respond to the changing needs of its residents and businesses.

Agoro stated this recently at the unveiling ceremony of the newly renovated building at the LSDPC, on Town Planning Way, Ilupeju, Lagos.

Agoro added that the renovation of the building reflects the corporation’s recognition of the importance of maintaining its assets and providing a working environment that is consistent with the standards expected of a modern public institution.

“LSDPC occupies an important position in the development of Lagos State. As a corporation with responsibilities spanning property development, housing and the management of government real estate assets, the corporation has an important role to play as Lagos continues to grow and respond to the changing needs of its residents and businesses,” Agoro said.

He argued that while the physical transformation of the building is being celebrated, the most important resource of any organisation remains its people.

According to him, a modern office can provide the right environment, but it is the dedication, professionalism, integrity and commitment of the people working within it that ultimately determine the quality of service delivered.

He urged the staff members of LSDPC to make the most of this improved working environment.

“Let these renovated offices inspire a renewed commitment to excellence. Let them encourage greater collaboration among departments.

Let them remind us that every responsibility entrusted to us is an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the development of Lagos State,” Agoro advised.

He urged public servants to consistently demonstrate professionalism, integrity, diligence and accountability while remaining committed to serving the people.

“As I congratulate the management of LSDPC on this achievement, I also encourage the corporation to continue to look ahead. I encourage the management and staff to continue translating the corporation’s mandate and aspirations into measurable results that will have a positive impact on Lagos State and its people,” he said.

He stressed that the standard of work carried out in the building must match the level of investment committed to the project.

Agoro stressed that the day’s event was not simply about the renovation of a building; rather, it represented an investment in the people who occupy it and in the quality of service they are expected to provide.

He underscored the need for public institutions to operate in safe, functional and conducive environments that adequately support their workforce, reiterating that the Lagos State Government has consistently demonstrated its commitment to building a public service that is professional, efficient, responsive and people-centred.

“Providing a conducive working environment is an important part of achieving this objective. I urge all members of staff to take ownership of this facility and maintain it diligently. More importantly, let the quality of work delivered within these walls reflect the investment that has been made in this building,” Agoro stressed.

Earlier, in his welcome address, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of LSDPC, Mr Ayodeji Joseph, explained that, as a corporation entrusted with responsibilities in property development, housing and the management of government real estate assets, LSDPC understands the importance of maintaining high standards across every aspect of its operations.

“We recognise that the quality of our work environment must reflect the professionalism, efficiency and excellence we strive to uphold in discharging our mandate,” Joseph said.

He mentioned that LSDPC undertook the renovation of the building with the understanding that its people remain one of the corporation’s most valuable assets.

Joseph added that a conducive workplace is essential to encouraging staff to give their best, fostering teamwork across departments and strengthening their collective capacity to deliver on the expectations of the Lagos State Government and the people of Lagos.

“To management and staff, this achievement also brings responsibility. As we begin to utilise this improved facility, I encourage everyone to take ownership of the building, maintain its facilities diligently and ensure that our conduct and work reflect the investment made in this environment,” Joseph advised.

He urged the staff members to make the most of this improved workspace by demonstrating greater commitment, professionalism, collaboration and dedication to their responsibilities.
