Gresik household gas network 95.4% complete

Gresik, East Java (ANTARA) - The construction of the household gas pipeline network in Gresik District, East Java, has reached 95.4 percent and entered its final stage before becoming operational, Presidential Chief of Staff Dudung Abdurachman stated.

"Today, I came here to ensure the readiness of the household gas pipeline network, funded by the State Budget (APBN) in Gresik District," he said while inspecting the network in Gresik on Friday.

The network, allocated for 7,363 household connections in Gresik, is part of the 2025-2026 household gas pipeline network development program.

Dudung said several licensing issues that had previously delayed the network's operation had now been resolved.

Environmental approvals (UKL-UPL), technical recommendations for district road sections, and for river crossings have all been issued.

With physical construction reaching 95.4 percent and licensing issues resolved, the government is now accelerating preparations for the network's operational stage.

"The licensing issues that had been holding back operations have now been resolved," Dudung said.

Head of Gresik District Fandi Akhmad Yani said the network will mainly benefit micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) that require gas regularly for their operations.

He cited business operators in several villages who use LPG daily for production activities, including bean sprout and poultry processing businesses.

"Rather than using 3-kilogram LPG cylinders, this is more effective, more efficient, and cheaper. They can use the gas pipeline network directly," Yani said.

He expressed hope that the quota for gas pipeline usage can be increased so that other areas with high MSME activity, including Sidowungu village in Menganti Subdistrict, could also get access to the gas network.

Yani also proposed that areas serving as MSME hubs with high energy demand be designated as pilot locations for converting from 3-kilogram LPG cylinders to the household gas network.
