‘The Pitt’ Celebrates Wins With Season 3 Update; Noah Wyle On Enjoying Latest Success Years After ‘ER’ – Emmys Backstage

For the second year in a row, The Pitt has been honored with the Emmy Award for Outstanding Drama Series. In addition to that accolade, the hit HBO Max medical drama received 5 additional wins: Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for Noah Wyle, Outstanding Casting in a Drama Series, Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series for Ernest Harden Jr., Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics, and Outstanding Prosthetic Makeup.

The cast, executive producers and writers continued the celebration backstage with the media to discuss their accomplishments. Deadline asked Wyle, creator R. Scott Gemmill, and producer John Wells for some Season 3 teasers, which they are currently shooting in Los Angeles.

“I can tell you that we’re going to be back to work tomorrow morning, hitting it hard with a very dramatic storyline. We are midway through our season on Episode 8 of 15, and the episodes are turning out great. I watched episodes four and five today. Episode 5 Shawn [Hatosy] directed and it’s wonderful. I think you’re going to be in for a really great season,” said Wyle.

Gemmill added, ” Yeah, we took everyone on an amazing journey this season. Everyone brought their A-game like they always do.”

Going into a third season, Gemmill admits he is feeling a bit of pressure following the huge success of the show’s first two season.

“It’s so great to have the recognition. So we feel obligated to really try our best and not settle and keep pushing and pushing, and making Noah cry even more,” Gemmill joked. Adding, “Whatever I can do to make it work. I joke, but we have a real responsibility to show the lives of these real-life emergency medicine heroes and try to do them justice.”

Wyley noted how much more he is able to appreciate the success that comes from working on such a critically acclaimed series. The first time around on E.R., the actor was in his early 20s.

“That was such a wonderful sort of heady time, and I was on my back foot through most of it. It was only after that experience had come and gone that I really wished I had made more of it, enjoyed it more, and taken more deep breaths. I promised myself that if it ever happened again, if lightning was ever going to strike again, that I would really take time and smell the roses,” Wyle said.
