Cheap Trick legend Rick Nielsen’s custom five-neck stage-played 2004 Hamer guitar has sold for a staggering $313,600 via auction. The sale came as part of Nielsen’s massive 300-plus-item collection sold via Julien’s Auctions.

Of note among the items sold was a black rubberized overcoat peed on by Nikki Sixx of Mötley Crüe. That sold for $5,760, roughly 10 times its estimated value.

Sixx perviously confirmed the tale regarding the overcoat, saying in his autobiography The Dirt, “I kneeled on the stool, pulled down my leather pants, and did what I’d been promising to do all night: peed on Rick’s jacket. He didn’t even realize anything was happening until it started dribbling down his pants and onto the floor. I thought it was pretty funny at the time, but when I went up to my room afterward, I felt terrible: I had just pissed on my hero.”

Little did he know the act would later serve to raise money for St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, the beneficiary of portions of the proceeds of the auction.

Other highlights include a stage-played 1975 Hamer guitar that sold for $256,000; a 1955 Ford Thunderbird that fetched $76.800; and the custom “Don’t Steal My Girlfriend” sweater worn by Nielsen on the cover of Cheap Trick’s One on One, which sold for $6,400.

Cheap Trick are set to embark on a string of November US dates as part of their “All Washed Up” tour, with tickets available here. According to a new report, the band plans on taking a break from touring in 2027.
