Report: Jessica Motaung steps down from key Kaizer Chiefs role

Translate

Kaizer Chiefs Marketing Director Jessica Motaung has reportedly stepped down from her position at the club.

After decades of service to the Soweto giants, it was reported on Thursday that Motaung had vacated her role as Marketing and Commercial Director but would remain a member of the club’s board.

“Jessica Motaung has confirmed to SABC Sport that she has stepped down from her role as Kaizer Chiefs Marketing Director but will stay on as a board member,” SABC Sport journalist Mazola Molefe reported.

Motaung has been part of Kaizer Chiefs since 1998 and was appointed Marketing Manager in 2003. Four years later, she became the club’s Marketing and Commercial Director, a position she has held ever since.

Her influence in football has also extended beyond Kaizer Chiefs. In 2022, she joined the CAF Organising Committee for Women’s Football.

Jessica Motaung has been with Chiefs for 28 years

A year later, Motaung was elected Deputy Chairperson of the African Clubs Association.

Despite SABC Sport reporting her departure from the position, Kaizer Chiefs are yet to release an official statement confirming the development.

With Jessica stepping down as Chiefs Marketing Director, it remains to be seen if Bobby Motaung or Kaizer Jr will take over her role. Both her brothers are part of the Chiefs board and occupy specific roles at the club.

Amakhosi are in action this weekend against Siwelele in the quarter-finals of the Carling Knockout Cup.

Do you think Jessica’s role should be filled by one of the Motaungs or externally?
